The exhibition consisted of:
- Eco friendly products and services from the private sector
- Cooperative and / or ecological initiatives by community based organizations
- Environmental / cooperative projects in R&D at the Western Area of Puerto Rico
- Artisans
The symposium section consisted of discussions about the following topics:
- The management of rubbish (emphasizing e-waste, glass and aseptic packages) in the Island
- The current status of the Cooperative Movement and a sustainable economy in Puerto Rico
- The growing issue of cybercrimes & cybersecurity in the Country
The goals of the event were:
- Continue to promote the e-Depot Initiative and its student chapter at UPRM, called e.D.C.i (acronym for The e-Depot Community Initiative).
- Reach persons or entities (public or private) that can help/collaborate with our Initiative.
- Raise awareness (and present solutions) to the problem of solid waste on the Island
- Emphasize the reuse and recycling of electronic/electric devices, glass and aseptic packages in Puerto Rico.
- Promote the development of Cooperativism and a sustainable economy in our Country
- Create awareness among the citizenship (including the Government, the academia, the private sector and non-governmental organizations) of the issues related to Information Technology and Telecommunications (IT&C) systems in Puerto Rico.
Invited to take part in this activity were:
- Representatives from companies whose products or services are related to environmental issues & informatics
- Representatives from the University of Puerto Rico - Mayagüez Campus
- Representatives from entities related to the environment, social entrepreneurship & Cooperativism
- Representatives from Local, State & Federal Government
